Chinese automaker SAIC Motor is set to launch its first sedan in India, the MG 6, in November 2024. The MG 6 will compete with premium sedans such as the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Camry, and Audi A4. The MG 6 is known for its sporty design, featuring a fastback roofline, LED headlights and tail lamps, chrome accents, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. It has a sleek and aerodynamic profile with a drag coefficient of 0.29. The car will be available in Carbon Grey, Pearl White, Obsidian Black, and Racing Red.
The interior of the MG 6 is spacious and luxurious, offering leather seats, an electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, paddle shifters, and cruise control. It also comes with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB, and auxiliary input. Other features include a foot-activated auto tailgate, digital instrument cluster, leather steering wheel, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry. The car has a boot space of 424 litres.
In terms of safety, the MG 6 is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake aid, ESP, TCS, HHC, TPMS, and a reverse camera with parking sensors. It also offers automated level-2 features such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keep assist (LKA), forward collision warning (FCW), automated emergency braking (AEB), blind spot detection (BSD), and rear cross traffic alert.
According to reports, the MG 6 was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 in India. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The expected launch date for the MG 6 in India is November 2024, with a price range of Rs. 40.00 – 55.00 Lakh.
